On the Smart, an exposed, rigid steel frame surrounds and protects the passenger compartment while defining the car’s shape and design. This also allows for interchangeable plastic body panels to complete the exterior. We took advantage of this feature and removed all panels to wrap them individually before refitting them to the chassis.
